How do you align your philanthropy with your values? How can you define the limits of your engagement with your chosen cause? What is the most effective way to measure the impact of your giving?
Answering these fundamental questions is at the heart of the philanthropy advice we offer. From the conceptual to the practical, we make your giving more effective and personal.
We work directly with philanthropists and foundations to provide independent, objective and intellectually robust philanthropy advice, that is tailored to the needs of the individual. We do not sell products.
We recognise the scope of our expertise, which is why we partner with subject matter experts and advisors to offer our clients a service that is holistic and comprehensive.
We partner closely with Kleinwort Hambros to offer confidential, bespoke philanthropic advice to their clients, and where appropriate and agreed with our clients, advise on establishing, structuring, investing in and running endowments and family foundations.
Our partnership brings together Kleinwort Hambros’ wealth management experience with Global Philanthropic’s expertise in philanthropic giving and fundraising. It is aimed at helping philanthropists and non-profit organisations achieve their philanthropic vision.
“We are seeing more of our clients taking their charitable giving as seriously as their investments. There is a growing requirement to help clients evaluate the strategic challenges around giving, and work with them to devise long term strategies which ensure their giving is as impactful as they want it to be. We’re delighted to be able to offer them access to Global Philanthropic’s advice and support in how to focus their philanthropic activities to make a lasting impact.”

How Does it Work?
We believe that trusted relationships are essential to effective philanthropy, so our work starts with an informal, confidential conversation with you or your advisors. No sales, no commitments, just an opportunity to meet and discuss what is important to you and how we can help.
If you decide to move forward with us, we will define a process that is unique to your philanthropic values, experience, commitments and giving. We invite you to contact us by email or phone to explore how we might support you in your philanthropic journey.
Your Philanthropic Values
In order to offer effective advice we need to know what matters to you, and why.
To do this we’ll explore:
- Your experience of philanthropy, both your own and your family’s.
- What you want your wealth to achieve and for whom – your philanthropic aspirations.
- Your hopes for your family, your community and society.
- The issues and organisations that matter to you.
- How you want to involve your family and friends in your giving.
- How involved you want to be with the organisations and individuals you help with your philanthropy.
Your Philanthropic Experience
Just as with wealth creation, experience matters in philanthropy. Knowing what works both philosophically and practically; understanding how to navigate an overwhelming choice of causes and means of addressing them; sector specific knowledge and contacts – all of these can profoundly impact the effectiveness of philanthropy.
As professionals and individuals we are all shaped by our experiences and knowledge, so we work with you to complement your expertise rather than to replace it. Using this approach we give intellectually robust and practical advice that is uniquely tailored to your needs and addresses the areas where we can add most value.
Your Philanthropic Commitment
What gives you the confidence to make a gift to a particular cause? How do you decide that you have enough trust and belief in the recipient organisation to make a donation?
Our experience is that, just as in making money, the wisest decisions are those that are the best informed. Understanding your motivations and having a clear process for vetting recipient organisations are, we believe, essential to making your gifts more effective and more fulfilling.
Your Philanthropic Giving
How should your giving be structured, as a single gift or over several years? What criteria should be used for measuring success? Is it best to spread risk over several organisations or concentrate on enabling a specific project or mission?
We work with you to create a practical and robust strategy for your philanthropy which is in line with your values, how you think and your life experience. Built into this are hard and soft metrics against which the effectiveness of your giving can be measured, as well as clear opportunities for you to engage on a more personal level with the causes that matter to you.
